Bio
Asia is a Toronto-based visual artist and curator. Her multidisciplinary practice explores curiosity, play, and fantasy to create immersive, otherworldly narratives. She is currently in her third year of undergrad at OCAD studying Criticism and Curatorial Practice with a minor in Art and Social Change. Asia has worked as an assistant curator at CIBC and is currently working with STEPS Public Art while serving as a board member at Xpace.
Artist Statement
Asia is a Toronto-based curator and artist whose work bridges socially conscious curation and playful, imaginative art-making. Her curatorial practice champions experimentation, inclusivity and accessibility, focusing on work that challenges established narratives. As an artist, she creates under the name Glowball, crafting dreamlike compositions inspired by kawaii culture and the synergy of nature. Through accessible materials such as pancakes, pencil crayons, toast and felt she explores themes of self-expression, femininity, and play. Through their artistic practice, Glowball unlocks a new identity that celebrates authenticity and self-expression over prescribed roles or limitations. Her work invites viewers to step away from conventional reality and enter a world of play and imagination.
